As stated, Frank Miller’s trailer for his new movie The Spirit has leaked onto the internet. To prevent any trouble from Lionsgate and for RatedAwesome.net I won’t be providing a link, but it is out there
From what was seen it is a very stylish and trendy movie movie, even more so than Sin City. The artistic style may not win a broad fan base, but Frank Miller has proven to be extremely competent and it’s difficult to imagine this being a failure.
For those unfamiliar with The Spirit it is a story about a masked crime fighter from the 1940’s. It was a notably pioneering comic in terms of artistic design and while the story and character has faded from public eye, it’s a prominent classic amongst those who follow the comic world.
The movie is expected to be released December 25th, 2008, starring Gabriel Macht as The Spirit, and Samuel L. Jackson as The Octopus (his nemesis) and Scarlett Johansson as the assistance of The Octopus.

Entertainment Tonight broke the news that comedian George Carlin passed away at 5:00 PM, Sunday afternoon, from heart failure. He was 71.
His contributions to society were never something you could quantify, buy, sell, or use in your home. It’d be hard to get better gas mileage with them and even harder to clean the carpet with. They were items for the soul, as cheesy as that seems. Laughter at things you weren’t meant to laugh at. Giggling at taboo subjects that everyone talked about anyways. His impacts may have not huge on the big screen, but his styling were felt far and wide. Very few aspects were not touched by him in some way, whether the effects were direct or not. From the movie community, the music community, Food Network to ESPN, New York to L.A. may he R.I.P.

Len Wiseman is suiting up to direct New Line’s “Gears of War,” based on Microsoft and Epic Games’ hit vidgame.
Dion: Well Gears of War being one of the biggest games in video games, the director has alot of weight on his shoulders to make this movie a blockbuster. Wiseman has directed movies such as Underworld, Underworld 2, and the new Die Hard 4 Movie. I think this movie will be done well considering it will have a huge budget. Only time will tell. You can also expect to see Kate Beckinsale in this movie considering she is married to the director.
New Line had initially aimed for a summer 2009 release for the pic, but further development on the project now will likely delay that plan.

After the online petition to make Uwe Boll stop directing movies increased in popularity and he got wind of it, Boll issued a very angry video reponse to it where he specifically disrespected Michael Bay. Bay, after seeing this video responded with equal disrespect towards Boll, who now wants to settle things Man on Man, as men do it, in the boxing ring. If this ever gets going, if Bay agrees to it, I’m guessing the fight will be more epic then any Ali fight ever could have been. The best part is, there really is no winner or loser. You can root for whoever you want and will be happy they are both being physically hurt regardless. Although I’m sure Boll is doing all of this just to boost the sales of his movies, he’s taking the internets as serious business, which as most should know, is a big no-no. Who should win the fight? What if there was no winner and both knocked eachother out in one final kung-fu double punch? What are the Vegas odds going to be on this? Questions soon to be answered if Bay accepts. For a video of Boll’s response to Bay’s insults and the official boxing challenge as well as more to the story, visit slash film here

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison on tax charges Thursday, a victory for prosecutors who sought to make an example of the action star by aggressively pursuing the maximum penalty.
Snipes’ lawyers had spent much of the day in court offering dozens of letters from family members, friends even fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washingtonattesting to the good character of the “Blade” star and asking for leniency. They argued he should get only probation because his three convictions were all misdemeanors and the actor had no previous criminal record.

Looks like Blade 4 and Demolition Man 2 wont be happening anytime soon.

As you might have noticed by visiting the forums, they are now updated to phpbb 3.0 and look a lot different. We are still looking and poking around at all of the new options so bear with us while we try to figure out how to configure everything just the way we like it. The new forum URL is www.ratedawesome.net/forum (just take out the s in forum(s) basically). If you enter the extra s it will redirect you to the right place anyways so just letting you know. The theme we have been working on isn’t quite working the way we wanted it to yet so were holding back on it but it will be up soon as the kinks are worked out, in the meantime I’ll clean things up so it looks a bit more organized and easier on the eyes.

With it only being the beginning of April and there still being 8 months left of either potentially great or potentially awful movies to be releasted before the years end, I am confident that the following movie will trump them all when it comes to a fail of epic proportions in the movie industry. I suppose I should star tout by saying that this movie was very low budget and went straight to video, but even the fact that they are trying to sell this pile to customers/consumers is an insult to us as human beings. War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave was released Marth 18th of this year, 2008 which for me, is a day that will be burned into my mind for eternity. A movie named War of the Worlds 2 is bound to strike some interest, even if you were not a huge fan of the Spielberg produced one starring Tom Cruise, you would of most likely been interested in this film based on those 2 names. Here are a bunch of reasons why that is the most crooked form of advertising I have ever seen.
So of course when I first saw this movie it caught my eye. War of the Worlds (the first one) was not epic by any means but I did rather enjoy it and figured that while not being a Speilberg production, the second one might pass the time. It passed the time all right, an agonizing milisecond at a time. My bank account probably holds more money in its savings account then they spent total on this film, and I am by no means a rich person. Filmed 2 years after the original invasion the planet apparently has not recovered whatsoever and is still in shambles. A few things worked out for the better after the invasion. For one, they captured one of the alien ships used to abduct and store humans. When showed the inside of this phenominal and high-tech super-alien craft, it was full of pink and red BEDSHEETS AND SILKS. Yes, you read that right, the interior of the spacecraft was made of bedsheets and silks. They could not afford anything better then that? Some white construction paper with crayon doodling on it would have looked better then that set (if you can even call it that) did. Bad set design aside, at least they had strong men and woman left to defend earth in case a second invasion would ever come, right? Wrong. The entire planetary defense of Earth was left in the hands of about two to three people, one with such a fake-thick southern accent she would have killed herself just so she never had to listen to herself speak ever again. On top of the genious of these 3 people, they also had a huge fleet of about 10 jets, to go up against a mothership. Although it never really explains why (they tried but failed to do so effectively), at least the jets are retrofitted with alien technology they had confiscated after the invasion and could fly into the exosphere and into space.
What I did not get most in this movie was how in the first few scenes they had already shown that the aliens had returned for a second invasion of earth, yet no one seems to notice or take caution. About thirty minutes in when the lead charecter (I didn’t even bother to remember his name or charecter name) mentioned to the two scientists he believes the aliens are coming back and they should start preparing a defense, this was already after it had shown alien walkers killing humans. I was confused as to whether it was a flash-back or flash-forward or real time scene and could not figure out why the entire planet didn’t already know massive genocidal aliens were back and already killing people, apparently until there are millions on-ground, its still conjecture loosely based on “facts.” When the aliens finally do arrive and the fleet of 10 jets magically transforms into literally hundreds, instantly, that became the time I turned it off. The last thing I saw before turning it off was apparently they jumped through a randomly appearing time-rip that the mother-ship escaped into and they blindly followed into.
There was not a single thing enjoyable in this movie. I almost punched a whole in the screen of my television when the “gas station attendant” started making weird dwarf-troll like noises for no particular reason while he was filling up some guys gas can. What goes through peoples minds when they are writing or directing something like this, who honestly thinks making the regular gas-attendant guy start cackling LITERALLY like a bridge troll, entertaining cinema? After all the bashing I feel I have to cut a bit of slack to it. Although it was obviously using the War of the Worlds and Speilbergs good name to rape consumers out of money until they found out just how bad the movie was, it still was an incredibly poorly budgeted movie. Thats why I am here though, to save our readers of such travesty’s as to prevent you from wasting the same time and money I have on this film. I would say you’ll thank me later, but I pray (I’m not even a religious man) you never in your life have to see this movie or hear about it to have the chance to thank me for this preventitive blog/review.
